This book is such a great read!! The author has visionary talent. I also like the author's other book, "Biflocka"....definitely a powerful story and message.
A Lion in Your Number is an amazing read. Even if you've never been in Sally's shoes, you can definitely relate to everything she is going through. A Lion in Your number is not only powerful, but amusing. The book definitely makes you question if you're "normal" or not. The author, Kevin Klix, put a crazy but great twist on to the ending. Klix is obviously extremely talented. I will definitely be reading more of his great work!
I came across this book after reading Kevin's book 'Elevator Music' so I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to read another one of his works, as he's quite the talent indeed.

A Lion In Your Number has the same dark undertone as Elevator Music, but it's more quirky and told through the eyes of a woman who honestly seems as though she can't tell up from down. This is definitely quite the tricky book for anyone to write, and I just love the way that Kevin used his words to tell her story through her twisted, hallucinatory eyes.

This book is written through diary entries, which I feel is even harder to portray a character through because you can only do but so much in a diary, but it's through these entries that you see Sally letting down her walls to expose herself to...well...herself. It's a back and forth ride of a crazy adventure with Sally as the driver, taking pit stops along the way as she describes the world that only she could understand.

The one part of the book that sticks out the most to me is the diary entry where she's explaining her encounter with a young four year old girl. I felt as though in that moment, though she hadn't wrote it, she saw herself in that little girl; an untouched, untainted, happy young girl she never could be.

I also love the fact that Shelly (the love interest from 'Elevator Music') is mentioned in this book since she is Sally's best friend. It brings the stories together and allow you to see the full picture of everything in their world.

Again, the language or rather, the phrases and tone of Sally's words, may be hard for one to read through if you aren't used to this style of book, but don't let that stop you. If you look past the uncomfortable feeling that some of her entries may give you and dissect each line she writes, you will find the underlying message she had beneath every word she penned; a message in which you will have to decide for yourself as I have.

So please, if you come across this book, or one of the books in this atmosphere of characters, don't pass it up. Sit down, relax and allow yourself to immerse into Sally's world. Who knows, you may even find new meanings for things you haven't before, as have I.

A book about a girls diary entries, written by a guy. I had to read it.
It is witty, very witty. And oddly enough I feel like I understand the female species a whole lot better. May call my ex girlfriend and apologize.
